Getting results. Kim Kardashian offered a candid look at the highs and lows of her weight loss journey ahead of the 2022 Met Gala.
“So I’m down to 118 [pounds] again. I went up to 120 [pounds] that was bothering me,” the reality star, 42, told her personal trainer on a new episode of Hulu’s. The Kardashianswhich premiered on Thursday, November 10.
In a confessional, Kim broke down her exercise routine to reach her goal weight. “So, I fit into the dress, but I’m not going to stop working out. I got this sauna and got in it and it makes you sweat – even if it’s water weight it will help,” she explained ahead of the event in May.
As cameras were rolling on Season 2, the Skims founder made headlines for her look in a vintage Bob Mackie dress at fashion’s biggest night. “It was this or nothing,” said the broadcaster Vogue the same month, referring to the dress previously worn by Marilyn Monroe in 1962. “I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.”
A month later, Kim slammed critics who questioned her decision to lose 16 kilograms in three weeks. “It was just important for me to achieve this goal,” she explained in an interview New York Times. “I simply could not have gone [if I didn’t loss the weight]which would not have mattered.”
The businesswoman added: “For me it was like, ‘OK, Christian Bale can do it for a movie role and it’s acceptable.’ Even Renee Zellweger gained weight for a role. It’s the same for me. I wasn’t saying, “Hey everyone, why don’t you lose weight in a short amount of time?”
At the time, Kim revealed that she had “dropped 21 pounds” since preparing for the event in New York. “It taught me a lot about my lifestyle and health,” she told the paper Today show about her original weight loss plan. “Since then I continued to eat very healthy. I’m not trying to lose any more weight, but I have more energy than ever. I cut out so much sugar, a lot of the junk food I was eating… I just changed my lifestyle.”
The aspiring lawyer also called out claims that she damaged the iconic gown after wearing it. “It was such a process. I arrived on the red carpet in a gown and slippers and put on the dress at the bottom of the carpet, went up the stairs,” she continued. “I probably had him for three minutes, four minutes, and then I changed at the top of the ladder. Ripley’s [and I] worked so well together. It was handlers and gloves that put it on me.”
In a statement released the same month, Ripley’s addressed the controversy, saying: “Kim Kardashian wearing the ‘Happy Birthday’ dress has been heavily contested, but the fact is that she did not damage the garment in any way during the short day.” of the time it was worn at the Met Gala.”
