With the NFL season already halfway through, some NFL teams are already fighting for playoff spots.
However, some of these teams will come up short in their attempt.
But which two playoff contenders are likely to fall short in their efforts?
2. New England Patriots
While the New England Patriots are last in their division, they are just off the mark to make the playoffs.
However, the situation at the quarterback position could hold them back from making the playoffs.
The Patriots don’t have a QB controversy they have a QB problem. Mac Jones is not the guy and Bailey Zappe is not going to be either.

While some were impressed with Bailey Zappe, who won two games with Mac Jones injured, he is not taking over the starting job.
But even Jones’ poor play isn’t enough to earn Zappe the starting job.
While Jones was pulled in the Patriots’ home loss to the Chicago Bears, he still retained his starting job.
As he continues to have a poor season, it is his play that will destroy the Patriots’ chances of making the playoffs.
1. Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons entered Thursday night’s Week 10 game with a chance to be atop the NFC South.
However, their loss to the Carolina Panthers leaves the door open for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Although the team has little shot at a wild card spot, they could have won their division.
But their poor play is showing and will keep them from winning the disastrous NFC South.
A combination of poor play, and the Bucs improving, will keep them out of the playoffs.
