The Boston Celtics are showing no signs of an NBA playoff hangover this season as the team is off to a great start to the 2022-23 campaign.

To make their strong start even more impressive, they have done so without the services of key man Robert Williams.

Williams underwent knee surgery in late September and was sidelined for eight to 12 weeks.

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla recently offered an upgrade at center.

“He’s doing well,” Mazzulla said. “He’s in great spirits, mentally. No schedule has changed as far as where he is. But he is doing a great job with his rehab. He’s on the field doing little things, but it’s great to see him out there and doing well.”

It sounds like everything is going to plan for Williams.

With any luck, he’ll be back for the Celtics before too long.

A big boost

The Celtics already look like one of the best teams in the NBA this season without Williams.

With him, they could become a huge problem for the rest of the Eastern Conference (if they aren’t already).

Boston now has the best record in the NBA, 11-3.

The team has won seven in a row and shows no signs of slowing down.

When Williams returns to action, he looks to give the team a legitimate boost on both ends of the floor.

He is a dual threat, as he averaged 10.0 points and 9.6 rebounds per game last season while shooting a very impressive 73.6 percent from the field.

He’s also an elite defender, earning All-Defensive Second Team honors last season.

When he can play this season, it may take him a while to regain his footing, but in time he could take Boston to new heights.
