SEC releases fan advisory for 2022 football championship game

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (November 17, 2022) – Fans attending the 2022 SEC Football Championship in Atlanta on Dec. 3 are encouraged to familiarize themselves with rules related to fan enjoyment and safety before the game.

The 2022 SEC Football Championship Game kicks off at 4:00 PM ET / 3:00 PM CT on December 3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and will be televised by CBS. The game is sold out.

The Dr Pepper SEC FanFare will be held on Friday, December 2nd from 1:00pm to 7:00pm ET and Saturday, December 3rd from 9:00am to 4:00pm in Hall C of the Georgia World Congress Center.

  • Mobile Tickets – All tickets will be digital for the game. Fans should review the ticketing process at www.secsports.social/mobile.
  • Side of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium will open at 1:30pm ET for early bird fans.
  • metal detectors – Fans will be required to pass through metal detectors to enter the game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the SEC FanFare at the World Congress Center.
  • Policy SEC Clear Bag – For security reasons, only clear bags are allowed in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Bags will be checked before entry.
  • The cashless policy of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium – By accepting only credit cards, debit cards and mobile payments, transactions happen faster and allow franchisees and merchandisers to operate more efficiently for customers.
  • SEC Ticket Exchange – Fans should be aware of counterfeit tickets and should use the SEC Ticket Exchange at www.secticketoffice.com to purchase verified tickets.
  • Mercedes-Benz Stadium Pom-Pom Strategy – Pom-poms or shakers must have paddle handles to gain access to the court. Pom-poms or shakers with handles are prohibited for safety reasons.
  • Back side will be allowed in The Home Depot Backyard West Lawn and M Lot.

Mobile phones tickets

All tickets will be digital for the game. There will be no paper tickets. Tickets should be saved or downloaded and placed in a digital wallet before arriving at the stadium. Fans should review the ticketing process for downloading, storing and transferring digital tickets at www.secsports.social/mobile.

Metal detectors

Metal detectors have been in place for several years at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and starting this year they will be in place for admission to SEC FanFare at the World Congress Center.

SEC Clear Bag Policy

The SEC strongly encourages fans not to bring any type of bag to the championship game. The following bags will be allowed into the competition venue:

  • Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and cannot be larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″
  • Fans may use one quart clear plastic freezer bags
  • Small clutch bags must be no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ with or without a handle or strap

Bags will be monitored at an extra security area set up around Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and a police presence and K-9 patrol will be prevalent throughout the area.

The Mobile Locker Company will provide lockers outside Gates 1 and 2 for fans who wish to rent a locker to store items. Lockers can be rented 2.5 hours before the start of the game and 1.5 hours after the game. Items have to be picked up from the closets on the same day. MBS cashless policy

Mercedes-Benz Stadium became the first stadium to implement a full stadium-wide cashless business model in March 2019 with the goal of improving speed of business times that keep lines shorter.

Ten (10) cash-to-card kiosks will be located around the stadium for those who do not wish to use their own cards or wish to carry cash with them. Guests can deposit the cash into the machine and receive a prepaid debit card with the same amount without a transaction fee. These cards can be used as other prepaid debit or credit cards inside the stadium as well as outside the stadium. Cash-to-card kiosk locations are:

  • Side 1
  • Field Level: Outside the Delta Sky 360 Club and outside the Mercedes-Benz Club, Tunnel 4
  • 100 Concourse: Team Store, Section 122
  • 200 Concourse: Sections 203 and 229
  • 300 Concourse: Section 332

Digital, contactless payments are currently accepted at all concession stands. Apple Pay users will receive instant rewards for purchases at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. For more information, fans can visit https://mercedesbenzstadium.com/card-mobile-payment/.

SEC Ticket Exchange

To purchase confirmed tickets on the SEC Ticket Exchange, the only authorized fan-to-fan ticket marketplace for an SEC Football Championship game, fans should visit www.secticketoffice.com. Ticket barcodes are verified by Ticketmaster, the ticketing partner of Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Note, listed prices are set by the seller and may exceed the original nominal price.

MBS Pom-Pom/Shaker strategy

Fans will not be allowed to bring pom-poms/stick handle shakers to maintain a safe and enjoyable venue for patrons. Only those with a racket handle will be allowed.

SEC FanFare

The Dr Pepper SEC FanFare will be held on Friday, December 2nd from 1:00pm-7:00pm ET and on Saturday from 9:00am – 4:00pm in Hall C of the Georgia World Congress Center. Admission is free. On Saturday, December 3, the SEC Network will present “Marty & McGee” show along with “SEC Nation” live from FanFare starting at noon ET. Additionally, on Saturday at SEC FanFare, the T-Mobile SEC Championship Concert will starting at noon ET.
