Bryson DeChambeau abandons quest to make it big after finding it ‘weird’

I’m going to be huge,” Bryson Dechambeau said late in 2019, before regrets had set in. He had embarked on a massive cycle that eventually saw him gain 50 kilos in less than a year, with specialized weight training and a crazy diet. His goal was to hit the golf ball farther. He succeeded. But there were also consequences.

Last week on 5 clubs podcast, he admitted that he didn’t build his strength in the smartest way. “I ate inappropriately for almost a year and a half. I was starting to feel weird. My system, my gut was all messed up,” he said. “Had a nutritionist, had blood work done, measured stuff in my gut, I was super bloated. Recently, it has been about two and a half months, I have been using this chef. I lost 20 kilos in a month. I had so many mood swings during it, but all the inflammation has just gone out of my system.”

“I’m a lot slimmer now, I feel better,” he said. “I look 20 again, not 35.” So what exactly was Bryson putting into his system that caused such distress?

Ah. But what’s a relaxing day on the links without nine to 10 protein shakes?
