Should the Jets be considered real contenders?

The New York Jets have a great season in 2022.

Head coach Robert Saleh’s fiery address has turned the Jets into winners.

However, with the Jets at 6-4, some are wondering if the team is a playoff contender.

The Jets need a change in offense to be contenders

If the Jets want to be contenders, they need to change their offense.

This change comes at the quarterback position where Zach Wilson is hurting the Jets offense.

His turnovers, and lack of offensive production, put the pressure on the team’s defense to shine.

While that defense is shining, the offense has been disappointing in the passing game.

The problem isn’t just Wilson, though, as they lost their best running back to an ACL injury.

Breece Hall’s injury sidelined a freshman who was coming into his own this season.

Without him, the running game falls to Michael Carter, who isn’t as explosive as Hall.

While the Jets have a great defense, that will never be enough for the team on offense.

However, Wilson could be benched if Joe Flacco can lead the Jets’ offense.

He can put up better numbers in the passing game, as he has 901 passing yards and five touchdowns in three games.

Those numbers are better than Wilson’s 1,279 carries and four touchdowns in seven games.

While Flacco is not perfect, he is a better quarterback this season than their current starting quarterback.

With one change, the Jets can become contenders with the defense they have.

However, sticking with Wilson will knock them out of the playoffs.
